Since 1991, the QEM/MSE Network, an institutional membership organization hosted by QEM, has conducted annual national conferences at which major issues affecting the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education of underrepresented minorities are addressed and at which outstanding STEM-related achievements of students, faculty, and institutions are recognized.
Please join us at the 15th Annual Conference of the QEM/MSE Network as we discuss recent reports and the PresidentÕs American Competitiveness Initiative that have major implications for the participation of underrepresented minorities in STEM fields.
Come, share your ideas on strategies and next steps that might be taken by policymakers and practitioners, Federal Agencies, the Corporate and Philanthropic community, professional societies, predominantly minority school systems, minority-serving institutions, teachers, parents, students, and community-based organizations to ensure the successful implementation of the key recommendations and proposals contained in the major reports to be highlighted during the Conference.

ABOUT THE QEM NETWORK
The QEM Network was established in July 1990, more than 15 years ago, as a non-profit organization dedicated to improving education for underrepresented minority groups, particularly in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). QEM employs an extensive networking and coalition building approach, with the MSE Network members serving as catalysts for change. Since its inception, QEM has involved persons in national, local, and school/university leadership positions as well as members of a variety of education- or science-oriented organizations in programs, workshops, conferences, and institutes focused on STEM.
With federal and philanthropic support, QEM has been able to offer: leadership development opportunities for students, parents, and teachers; institutional capacity-building proposal development workshops and technical assistance in STEM project implementation; special technology workshops for presidents of higher education institutions; scholarly productivity, professional development, and career-focused proposal development workshops for STEM faculty; research apprenticeship and science and health-focused internship opportunities for students; and research appointments for STEM doctoral students and faculty at major science and technology centers.
